⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. The die-hard spies of the Banana Girls definitely live up to the name of this entertaining, cozy spy thriller.

After her mother is abducted, Mari Sandoval breaks into her mother’s research lab in an ill-advised attempt to appease the kidnappers. Fortunately she’s thwarted by two spunky sorority girls who offer her a better way to save her mother – become a spy. In the fast-paced world of undercover agents – where fabulous new clothes, high-tech gadgets, and flirting for secrets are the norm – Mari’s inexperience could ruin everything. Will she be able to master the art of espionage in time to rescue her mother from the clutches of a maniac? Or will her undercover mission doom them both to imprisonment?

MY THOUGHTS

This book was a lot of fun. You might have to suspend your belief in some places and accept that young, twenty-something women can be seasoned spies. But I loved the Banana Girls and enjoyed their antics and amazing gadgets. Mari and the rest of them were all very resourceful and resilient.

The plot flowed along at a great pace and kept my interest all the way through. There was a bit in the middle-ish that slowed down somewhat, but definitely not badly enough to break the suspense. I was truly invested in Mari’s entire quest to find and save her mother.

It was a quick, easy, enjoyable read. I can recommend it if you like impish spies that can creatively get themselves out of scrapes and have mind-boggling spy gizmos. I’m definitely reading the next one.
