⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I read this book in one day and loved just about everything about it. Heath and Cricket had amazing chemistry. It took them a while to become comfortable with each other. They started with a tentative friendship, but always had this underlying attraction that they desperately tried to deny. The other characters all had unique and interesting personalities. This book came with excellent banter, character growth, found family, love, a safe place to recover from trauma, and all the feelings.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kat and Harry both had very complex relationships with their respective families. Familial love got tangled with obligation and feelings of guilt and resentment. Kat did her best to handle her father’s expectations and her mother’s issues, and it wasn’t always so successful. Harry felt welcomed and loved, but also separate because of things that had happened when he and his twin were kids. And none of those were things they felt comfortable discussing with their families. They provided support and understanding for each other, and that led to a sweet love affair.

I loved the solid friendships between all the characters, the way they supported each other, and Harry and Kat’s evolving relationship. I can highly recommend this entire series if you like a low spice romance with interesting characters and family dynamics.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ There was less diary reading happening than I anticipated. The story focused on Jax and her sister, Ryleigh, and their fears and insecurities. I think I enjoyed Ryleigh’s story slightly more than Jax’s. Marcus was a breath of fresh air and I liked how he approached and treated Jax. Jax had trouble accepting that the people in her life dared operate outside the boxes that she put them in. This created a lot of conflict between them, but also within Jax herself. Jax had a lot of “growing up” to do, which she did, grudgingly.

Ramon the parrot was awesome. I enjoyed all the interactions between the various characters, as well as the fun banter. All the relationship development was heart-warming. I can recommend this book if you like a closed-door romance with complex characters and intricate relationships.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved their competitive spirit and the chemistry between them was spot on (like I expected from Ana Huang). Sebastian and Maya were both interesting characters and I enjoyed their overall dynamic. The ending felt just all right. It’s as if the book lost some momentum towards the end.
