4 Stars from me.

Verity, Ellis and Frankie are back in another installment of this super entertaining series. Frankie has been drafted by Inspector de Clerq to help solve a very old murder on the ghostly plane. Ellis is also investigating a murder in real life. And Verity is helping them both while trying to deal with her ex Beau on the side.

I have really enjoyed reading this series so far. Verity and Frankie make a good and interesting investigative team, with lots of funny banter between them. Ellis is steadfast and calm and handsome as always.

In this story Verity is in very serious danger from a powerful ghost, but also from someone who is trying to kill her. But with Frankie’s help and Ellis’s unwavering support, she pulls through. The abandoned, haunted house that forms the scene of the unsolved murder provides for a very entertaining backdrop. The ghostly characters are interesting as well as the mystery that Verity is slowly unravelling.

It does seem that Sugarland has an abundance of abandoned, haunted buildings, but it makes for interesting stories, so I don’t mind it that much. The characters are fun. The conflict between Verity, Beau, and Virginia is getting a bit tiresome.

I would definitely recommend this as a fun easy read for paranormal fans.

I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Was I hooked by this book? Oh yes.
