⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes! A serial killer leads Laurel and Huck on a merry chase of intrigue and nail-biting action. Definitely a read that’s hard to put down.
The small rural town in Genesis Valley forms the backdrop for the work of another serial killer. Laurel Snow is on the hunt, along with Huck Rivers, even though her office and her team are still temporary. Everything gets more complicated when Dr. Abigail Caine sticks her nose in the case.
MY THOUGHTS
You Can Hide is more suspense than anything, but the budding romance between Laurel and Huck provides a little something else to focus on while trying to figure out who the killer is. And good luck with that, because the identity of the killer is a tightly kept secret right until the end and I never saw that coming. As for Laurel and Huck, they slowly make their way back to each other and I love the two of them together.
Laurel’s team is growing, adding a few interesting characters to the mix. Abigail is as scary as ever.
I love how Laurel clinically analyzes complex human behaviour and breaks it down so that Huck and the other people around her have no choice but to be honest about their feelings and thoughts.
Even the ending left me breathless in anticipation for what might happen next. It’s not a cliffhanger in the usual way, but still…
I can highly recommend this series if you like suspense, with a bit of romance on the side. It is better to read the books in order. The first book does an excellent job of establishing the characters.
