⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Not completely. It was enjoyable and the plot flowed well enough, but the forbidden relationship between Rhys and Bridget didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

MY THOUGHTS

Bridget, Princess of Eldorra, has had quite a bit of upheaval in her life. First, she had to get used to a new bodyguard. Which turned out to be harder than you’d think, because there was an instant attraction with Rhys. And because of this forbidden attraction, their relationship never really got off the ground. They constantly swiped at each other and Rhys was sometimes very unreasonable. I didn’t really understand this or care for it much. Rhys was supposed to be a professional and much older than Bridget, but he regularly acted out of spite. In his favor, he did take her safety very seriously.

Rhys and Bridget settled into an uneasy truce, but things escalated again when the King (Bridget’s grandfather) had a health scare and the two of them traveled back to Eldorra. Bridget was suddenly confronted with her real life and everything that went with it. The two of them finally acted on their sexual attraction while on a goodwill tour of the country. The chemistry between them was quite electric, but that was the basis for most of their relationship. Other than the stolen intimate moments, I didn’t really feel the two of them together as a couple.

I had a lot of sympathy for Bridget and the situation she was put in. I loved all the efforts that she put in to connect with her subjects and to become a better royal representative. But at this point, I think Rhys had lost all focus on what he was supposed to be doing, that is guarding her safety, and instead the two of them were just looking for ways to have quickies wherever they went. I enjoyed seeing Bridget’s friends as well as Alex from the first book, and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

I would say I enjoyed reading the book, but I wasn’t all that invested in Bridget and Rhys’s relationship. Bridget was more than ready to take on her new role by the end, but I’m not convinced that Rhys was in a position to join her there.

This is book two in the Twisted series that started with Twisted Love.
