⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. King of Wrath draws you in and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Dante Russo was being blackmailed into marrying jewelry heiress, Vivian Lau. His first impression of her definitely did not entice him to change his stance on marriage. Vivian agreed because of an overly heightened sense of familial responsibility and loyalty, but she had no idea that her father had forced Dante into the arrangement. For Vivian, the marriage was a foregone conclusion, while Dante was doing everything he could to get out of it. They agreed to move in together during their engagement period. Living in close quarters showed them that there was more to the other person than meets the eye.

MY THOUGHTS

I found the explanation for the arranged marriage quite plausible. Dante’s method of dealing with the blackmail threat and trying to free himself of it was also very believable.

Vivian is a multi-faceted character. She shows one face to her parents, another to other people, and as time went on, her real persona to Dante. To say Dante wasn’t keen on the marriage, is an understatement of epic proportions. But throughout it all, he took care of Vivian, and couldn’t help but be impressed by her. I didn’t really appreciate Dante’s proclivity for violence, but other than that, I really liked him. The two of them are truly fantastic together.

Ana Huang consistently creates sweet but fierce sexual tension between her characters. This book has the same compelling writing as her previous books. I can highly recommend it if you enjoy steamy romance with intrigue. This is the first of a new series that I very much look forward to reading. It is loosely tied to the Twisted series.
