⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. Heart of Glass delivers thrilling magical battles, a cast of remarkable characters, and a fast-moving plot.

Ferne Crawford is a Seer with unique abilities that set her apart from other Druids. She once ignored her magic with tragic results. So, when she’s bombarded with visions of a great evil that call her to a place she’s been warned never to go, she’s powerless to resist. Her life takes a drastic turn the moment she arrives on Skye and encounters a handsome, valiant stranger. Theo makes her ache for his touch. Their meeting stirs an explosive passion, awakening a yearning that only he can satisfy. However, there’s more than the malice which brought her to the isle that intends her harm. Detective Inspector Theo Frasier carries the weight of the isle and his people on his shoulders. With more Druid murders and no leads on who’s controlling the killing mist, he’s beginning to feel the strain. The last thing he needs is anything, or anyone, distracting him. But once he meets Ferne, he can’t get her out of his head. Or his heart. She fills his every thought, day and night. His need for her consumes him, pushing everything else aside. But will his love be enough to save them from the growing threat?

MY THOUGHTS

Theo and Ferne were interesting and likeable characters and their relationship was the perfect anchor for everything else in the story. They both carried a feeling of responsibility towards their fellow Druids and considered others’ wellbeing before their own. Until they met in an intense and charged encounter and grew to realize that they deserve something special for themselves too.

Ferne quickly discovered that Theo and his friends, with Rhona and Balladyn, were the best support she could hope for in her quest to investigate the evil presence on the island. She had some strange and intimate interactions with the mist that was completely in contrast to what everybody expected of an entity that had been used to kill Druids all over the place.

The team of supporting characters were all unique and made invaluable contributions to the progression of the story. Edie had her own difficult situation going on that was just heart-breaking. I’m excited to read more about all of them.

A lot of questions from the previous books were answered, but plenty of new intrigue is afoot that will, presumably, be expounded on in books to come. A huge part of the mystery surrounding the mist were resolved. Now, the possibilities seem endless again for the identity of the villain, their motivations, and the direction the story can take.

The Skye Druids series form part of Donna Grant’s Dark World universe. You can start this series without having read any of the other books, but I would recommend you read this one in order. If you like intense chemistry, spectacular magic, dragons, Fae, and Druids, then this is the series for you.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
