⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. I will miss Elena and Raphael and all the other wonderful characters, even with this definitive conclusion to their epic story.
It’s been a millennium since Elena’s fateful first meeting with Archangel Raphael. She has survived war and loss, experienced beauty and cruelty. But no matter what, she has always held on to her mortal heart, as she and Raphael have held on to each other. Passionate and vibrant, they’ve built a life that has stood the test of time, growing ever stronger with each turn of the sun. But change is coming—of a magnitude they could have never imagined—and it will forever alter the trajectory of their existence. Even as they grapple with the cataclysmic shift in their personal lives, the Cadre of Ten, which has maintained a hard-won peace for centuries, begins to simmer with dangerous fault lines. The specter of madness looms in one archangel, the promise of war burns between two others, and in darkness far from mortal and immortal eyes stirs an ancient, slumbering power. Suddenly, the future is terrifyingly uncertain… at the very moment that Elena and her archangel need to protect a treasure infinitely more precious than eternity.
MY THOUGHTS
*big sigh* Everyone was so annoyingly sweet and happy. After everything that had happened, our favourite heroes definitely earned all that sappiness in their lives. I really enjoyed Elena’s journey and the stories of Raphael’s childhood, as well as all the love and loyalty that got further cemented over the centuries. And all those extra happy-ever-afters.
All the happiness and hopefulness were very heartwarming. I have to admit, though, that I missed their edginess and the tension that was always the main focus of the series. This book was more like one big epilogue to a phenomenal series. It is definitely best to read the books in order. Archangel’s Eternity doesn’t have much meaning if you don’t have all the history preceding it.
I can highly recommend the Guild Hunter series if you like fantasy with angels, vampires, political intrigue, war, and of course, romance.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
