Here are four quickie reviews of books I’ve read recently.
Highland Dragon by Genevieve Jack
Avery volunteers to journey into a protected pocket of land created by magic to persuade Xavier to help with the crisis in Paragon, but she finds a mysterious stranger ruling in his place. She agrees to help Xavier free his people from the fairy usurper.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book focuses more on Avery and Xavier and less on the dragons’ quest to free Paragon from tyranny, which works well because it takes place in a magically hidden pocket that Xavier had created to keep his adopted clan safe. Avery shook up Xavier’s world in more ways than he ever imagined. She experienced delight and horror in equal measure. I enjoyed her reactions to this artificial world stuck in time and her determination to help Xavier free the people. The action was fierce and the attraction between Avery and Xavier even fiercer, which made this a highly entertaining story. It’s best to read the books in this series in order.

Series: The Treasure of Paragon
It’s all magical hands on deck for vampire Elisa Sullivan and her allies as they fight to save the Windy City from a supernatural onslaught, while Elisa tries to keep her deepest, darkest secret.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m a bit sad that it’s the last book. The plot and action with the demons threatening Chicago were intriguing and nail-bitingly tense. I just love Elisa and Connor and all their friends and co-workers. Elisa and Monster finally found a solution for the two of them that worked out spectacularly well. I would’ve liked to see more of Connor’s quest to become Apex with Elisa by his side. But that would have to be its own separate story. If you like vampires, shifters, and witches, then you’ll certainly enjoy this entire series. It’s best to read them in order.

Wolf on the Edge by Paige Tyler
Carter is seeing Dr. Hadley to figure out what do about his violent omega wolf and blackouts. He needs her as his therapist, but he craves her as his soul mate. The decision is out of his hands when a serial killer with supernatural abilities targets Hadley. Carter will risk it all to save his mate, but he’s running out of time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ The story was quite thrilling from beginning to end with interesting, powerful enemies around every corner. I love that Hadley knew what Carter was long before he decided to open up to her and she took it all in stride. Kat’s involvement and her magic gave the story even more of an edge than it already had. It is always fun and exciting to see all the SWAT wolves work together. And now we have even more equally talented mates thrown in the mix. Carter and Hadley made an excellent team. If you like hunky werewolves with your steamy romance, then this series is for you. I think it will make more sense if you read the books in order.

A Castle in the Air by Kelley Armstrong
Portia is beset by two intriguing highwaymen when she follows her sister from the 19th century to the 18th. When one of them is injured in the altercation, Portia stays to doctor him and encounters more than just a grumpy Earl and his jovial brother.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Apart from the time travel and ghosts, this was more in line with what you would expect from a historical romance. With the caveat that Portia could move around as she wished without having to worry about relatives. I just loved Ben and Jude and their aunt. All the characters were interesting and well-developed. Complete with all the “good” and “bad” highwaymen, the drought, and the crumbling castle with vengeful ghost, the story will have you on edge. This book is another exciting addition to this entertaining series. Each books stands well on its own, though it might be worth reading book 1 first as that explains the time stitch best.

Great reviews! I’m especially intrigued by A Castle In The Air.
I’m really enjoying that series. It combines time travel and ghosts, which is somewhat unusual.
