Welcome to my Monday Musings. Fall is in full swing now and the wind had blown plenty of trees bare this past weekend. The days are getting markedly shorter and I’m not looking forward to the time change in November.

My week was fairly uneventful. I met up with a friend, did some work, and was otherwise pretty quiet. I wasn’t feeling very well, nothing specific, but enough to make me not want to do anything. My son went away with his air cadets squadron on a camping trip.

This is a question for my fellow bloggers: if you send out a newsletter, what service do you use? When I started this blog I signed up with Mailchimp, but they have changed their structure a lot recently and I really cannot afford to pay for a mailing service. My blog is not nearly big enough to justify an expense for that. Next I gave MailerLite a try, only to find out after a week (of a trial period, apparently) that I have to pay for a premium version to be able to send out blog updates on a regular basis. Then I discovered MailPoet and that’s where I am now. Hopefully, this one will stay free for a while. I also like the look of the newsletter a lot more. On that note, please sign up for my newsletter, if you haven’t already. I’ll definitely reciprocate.

And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)

DONE AND DUSTED

It was a slower reading week and I didn’t post any new reviews, except for my Quickie Reviews. I was feeling a bit nostalgic and did a reread of Fire and Ice by Julie Garwood. It’s one of my favourites in that series.

FOR THIS COMING WEEK

I’ve started reading Payback’s a Witch and Hunted. Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on.

QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE

I’m still busy reading Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper and Hunted by Kevin Hearne (yes at the same time), but I’ve made note of these quotes along the way:

From Payback’s a Witch: Though she and I hadn’t exactly reconciled, the tension between us had broken like oppressive heat extinguished by a long-overdue downpour – leaving behind a relief so heady it felt a little like new love.

From Hunted: Then he’s misunderstood the nature of beauty. It doesn’t stay, except in our minds.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.

What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.

And that’s it. Thanks for musing with me on this beautiful Monday.
