Welcome to my Monday Musings. Bad planning and more days of tight work deadlines meant I missed last week’s Monday post. I can’t believe it’s the last Monday of November. This coming weekend I am looking forward to putting up my tree and Christmas decorations. When do you do yours (if you do it)?
In the last two weeks, my kids had some time off school, we met up with some friends, and it was generally a good two weeks. My husband and I went to see Hadestown, which I really enjoyed. I loved the music. And over the weekend I watched Hysteria on Netflix, and that had me laughing out loud. This week my son’s school is putting on Mean Girls and he is playing Aaron. So excited to go watch him and his friends.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
I added two new reviews in the past two weeks, and the quickie reviews are here.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on.
QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
From Holiday Rescue by Rebecca Zanetti: “You’re like a chocolate chip infused donut with glazed icing,” she whispered… “Delicious and tempting, but I’d regret it in the morning when I tried to put my jeans back on.”
From Flame by Adriana Locke: “Foxx, I think I’m a fraud.” My words hang between us, refusing to dissipate in the thick, humid air. The feeling of them in the world, free from the cage of my mind and available for judgement, is terrifying. But also, it’s a relief.
From The Day of the Duchess by Sarah MacLean: The kiss unlocked her, breaking her open, letting light and air into the dark, dank places in her. It thieved the protection she had built over months and years, casting it out and leaving her with nothing to keep him away.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.
And that’s it. Thanks for joining me on this Monday Musings adventure.

I love how your books flip for that quickie review, never seen that before. I am loving listening to Inheritance and then jumping while listening if I hear a strange noise!
I love that feature too. I can see myself jumping too if I was listening to it.
You managed to fit in the fun activities even with work. Enjoy your decorating this weekend. We don’t do ours until later in the month.
My tree is up and the house is decorated. Glad you had some family time over the last couple of weeks. I watched Hysteria a few weeks ago and also found it hilarious, but interesting. Have a great week Role and enjoy whatever you read next.
Thanks, you too!
Sounds like a busy week! I can’t believe we’re almost done with November either. Very exciting to have your son in a play! I hope they enjoy it. I enjoyed Inheritance and In Isabeau’s Eyes.
I’ve heard great things about Hadestown. I wish I would have gone to see it with my mom and sister when they went. Oh well. I’m glad you loved it. I am also glad you enjoyed Flame, like I did.
So many great titles and it sounds like you had a busy, busy week!
I saw Hadestown a couple years ago – the music is a lot of fun. I’m really excited to see how the Mean Girls musical movie goes – I loved the stage production. Good luck to your son!
Sorry I’m so late commenting, but it’s been crazy busy for me too! I just noticed that book flip thing too that Kathryn pointed out, how do you do that? It’s so cool! Hope last week went better for you, looks like there were some good books!
It’s never too late to add comments. I love them all. The flip thing is a WordPress plugin. I love it.
