⭐⭐⭐⭐

Farrah is out of a job after she is passed over for a promotion due to nepotism. She decides to take on a client as a freelance interior designer, who just happens to be Blake Ryan, the man who broke her heart five years ago.

This second book is just as emotional and intense as the first one. But while their love in the first book is shiny and new, in this book it is tainted by their heartbreak and the dark thoughts that Blake refuses to share with anyone. Blake desperately wants a second chance, and Farrah really wants to give him one, but she is understandably afraid.

Both characters are now older and their lives reflect that, which I liked. In some ways they are still the same people they were five years ago. Farrah is still kind, forgiving, and willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. Blake is still stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts, and believes he isn’t good enough for Farrah, but he can’t give her up either. Blake had to learn what it means to really give yourself in a relationship, all of you, not just the good parts that you think the other person would like to see.

You could question the wisdom of their entire relationship, seeing as they spent a lot of time hurting each other. But Farrah and Blake do have a huge amount of passion, and in the end they were able to give the other person what they needed.

I loved both books, though I have to say I think I liked the first one more.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Was I hooked by this book? Oh yes!
