4 Stars from me.
Josh is on his way to California to start a new job at the same fire station as his best friend, Brandon. He is also putting as much distance as he can between himself and his ex-girlfriend. Kristen, meanwhile, is waiting not so patiently for her boyfriend to finish his tour with the Marines so they can move in together. Kristen and Josh have a meet-cute when he bumped into the back of her car during heavy traffic. Then they found out that they were also linked through their respective best friends, who were getting married.
These two are great characters. I love Kristen’s upfront and dry humor. They become really good friends really fast and poor Josh is reluctantly relegated to the friend zone because of Tyler (Kristen’s boyfriend). Kristen didn’t treat Josh all that well at times and he is a saint for not giving up on her at all, just changing tactics when called for.
There was a part in there where Kristen and Tyler got to clear the air and have their say that I wasn’t too fond of. I don’t think that was quite necessary.
The story is full of emotion and it was really well portrayed. I had a hard time putting it down. So many things happened and it was a rollercoaster ride of feelings. Very well done. I enjoyed the writing style as well.
Was I hooked by this book? Yes, for sure.
