⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. A delightful mix of thrilling action, heartwarming moments, and excellent banter.

Three months ago, I landed a job as a bartender. But not at a bar—at a guild. Yeah, the magic kind. I’m not a badass mage like my three smokin’ hot best friends. I’m not a sorcerer or an alchemist, or even a wussy witch. I’m just a human, slinging drinks like a pro and keeping my non-magical nose out of mythic business. Seriously, I know my limits. So why am I currently standing in a black-magic ritual circle across from a fae lord? Somewhere behind me, my three mage friends are battling for their lives. Somewhere near my feet is the rogue witch I just knocked out with a stolen spell. And I have about five seconds to convince this very angry sea god not to shmoosh me like a bug. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t part of the job description.

MY THOUGHTS

Tori was a bit more salty in this one, with her attitude turned up a notch or two. But who could blame her? She might end up losing her job and her friends, not to mention her brand new home, and that would be enough to put a person in a bad mood. Throw in an unexpected visit from some sketchy witches and all bets are off.

Once again, Tori found herself in a super dangerous situation, not of her own making, not on purpose, trouble just seemed to find her. All her friends, old and new, came to help, and they made quite the odd collection of personalities and powers. Tori has a good heart, with good intentions (questionable execution though), and it is not surprising that all these powerful people would rally behind her. Now, she just has to start believing in herself as much as they do.

The situation escalated fast resulting in exhilarating magical battles that showcased truly phenomenal powers. Tori made it through with her customary sarcastic wit and I loved how everything wrapped up. I can recommend this if you like a fun urban fantasy series. This isn’t a romance, but there’s definitely some romantic feelings. It is best to read these books in order as Tori’s life with the mythics continue to evolve.

I am reading this series as part of this read-along hosted by Anne at Books Of My Heart.
