⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. Twist is a thrilling chase to find Silver’s tormentor before he can do more damage.
Months after moving to the mysterious city of Cognito, Silver is developing her gifts as a Mage and learning how to live under new laws. She is forced to give up her old life and live in secret among the humans. There is finally hope of leading an ordinary life… Until Logan Cross walks into it. Their chance meeting leads her close to discovering the identity of the nameless Mage who once stole her light and discovered the unique power she possesses. That knowledge poses an unimaginable threat to Silver, fueling the search to find out who he is before he finds her. Lives are at stake. Truths are revealed. And an unexpected passion ignites.
MY THOUGHTS
I liked the addition of Logan to Silver’s life. Adam, Justus, and Simon met her at a low point and were instrumental in getting her back on her feet. The relationship between Silver and these three men were complicated and not always easily definable, whereas Logan viewed her very differently.
Logan was super intense, volatile, and sometimes scary. He was possessive and protective about Silver, and it was a bit much at times. In fact, they were all hot-headed. They were very quick to “fight first, ask questions later”.
The action was fast-paced, nail-biting, and very tense. This is a brutal world that doesn’t shy away from violence. Silver found herself in several vulnerable situations. She managed to retain plenty of her humanity while embracing her new identity.
This book gave us more details about Mages and the Breed in general and I liked it more than the first one, which often happens with series like this. I can recommend this series if you like urban fantasy with magic and magical creatures. It is best to read them in order.
I am reading this series as part of a read-along hosted by Anne at Books of My Heart.

Great review! I feel the same. They’ve violent. I’m not sure about Logan. I want to know more about the world. They are definitely best read in order.
I love this author and series. Fantastic review!
Thanks!
I started the first book and it wasn’t clicking with me so I didn’t join in this read-along. Glad to hear you enjoyed this more than the first book.
Some day I do need to read these. I wish I could have joined in, but my review/reading schedule is so busy the second half of the year it seems! Great review!
