⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. Atticus finds himself in hot water yet again, thanks to Coyote, and whether his interference is a hindrance or help is anyone’s guess.
Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert. But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shapeshifters called skinwalkers. Just when the Druid thinks he’s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he won’t be fooled again. Famous last words.
MY THOUGHTS
The focus shifted from the previous book to Navajo traditions and beliefs, and it was fascinating.
Oberon and Atticus were on point again with their silly back-and-forth. It was fun to read and it also provided some levity in between all the life-and-death situations Atticus found himself in. But in general, I found Atticus to be more serious in this book compared to the first books. He seemed to be more conscious of the consequences of his actions and took responsibility for them.
Granuaile had a bigger role and I can’t wait to see her develop into an amazing Druid. Coyote, on the other hand, gave me mixed feelings. He was definitely not to be trusted, but so charming while he was at his tricks that a small part of me couldn’t help but admire him for it.
I’m excited to read the next book, mostly to see more of Granuaile, to be honest. I am reading this series as part of a read-along hosted by Anne on Books Of My Heart. I can highly recommend this entire series if you like magic, druids, gods, and fast-moving action.

Thanks for joining us in the Read-along and sharing your review. I also like the humor in the series. But I also am excited to watch Granuaile utilize her new skills.
This series seems to be treating you right! I hope the next book is just as good for you.
I’ve heard good things about this series, but haven’t read it myself. Maybe I’ll pick it up one day 🙂
Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not what I usually like to read.
Yeah, Coyote wasn’t a great guy, but he did die for Atticus a couple of times so I guess there’s that. I need to read the one scheduled for August 4th. Hunted? Hope we both enjoy it!
I’m a bit behind. I have Trapped next.
I have read most of this series and think that it is just a ton of fun! I hope to get back to the series very soon.
