⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. Iron Ember is a thrilling addition to an already exciting world and will definitely leave you wanting more.

Elodie left Skye in a cloud of tragedy and scandal. The last thing she expected was to find herself back home again. Yet, there she was, trying to fix her childhood home and desperately trying to ignore the source of all her troubles. Scott, a Druid from Edinburgh, is hoping to convince Elodie to join their group’s efforts to find out who has been killing Druids all over the place. He has the magical ability to influence and charm anybody, but he is reluctant to use it on Elodie. The attraction between them is all too natural and too strong to ignore.

MY THOUGHTS

Donna Grant is expanding her Dark World universe with a new series focusing on the Skye Druids. Rhona and Balladyn are in charge (their story is in Dark Alpha’s Command). Rhona is still trying to find her feet as the new Druid leader and they have their hands full with this new threat.

I really enjoyed Iron Ember a lot. The first part of the book is packed with new information about Elodie’s past, the group of Druid Others, and the chilling murders of innocent Druids. It’s a lot to take in, but the pace picks up eventually and the action heats up.

Scott was a lovely surprise. He is very different from the other male lead characters in this world so far. His strength wasn’t so much in his physical or magical abilities, but in his new-found love of Skye and his loyalty to his friends and to Elodie. Elodie had so much to deal with and her story truly packed a punch.

I loved Balladyn in his role as father-figure to the Skye Druids and it was also lovely, as always, to see old friends again from all the previous books. And for this reason, I would recommend reading all the books in this universe in order. Mind you, that could take a while, since it has grown so much over the years. I can recommend this series and all the related ones if you like hot romance, strong characters, magic, and suspense.

Elodie and Scott find their happy-ever-after, but the mystery is far from solved and there are plenty of questions left unanswered.
