⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. This was quite exciting. My eyes couldn’t move fast enough across the pages.
Evie was once a courtesan, but she has reinvented her life and now she is Mrs. Renshaw, a patroness of the Phoenix Club. She was perfectly content with the status quo until Lord Gregory Blakemore became a part of her life along with the cute puppy, Ash. Can they survive the selfish manipulations and blackmail from a certain group of people in their lives?
MY THOUGHTS
I adore Evie and Gregory. Gregory is consistent, reliable, steady, supportive. He stood solidly behind Evie without ever disparaging her for her past. Evie had learned to hold her head high and not let her past actions cloud her current ones. There were a lot happening around them, but the focus of the story was completely on the two of them. Ash, the puppy, was such a perfect addition. And Lucien, again, plays a big role. I can’t wait to read his story.
This has been a fun series so far and I can recommend it if you like historical romance. It’s not necessary to read them in order, but it does help a bit to place characters.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have not read anything by Darcy Burke, but I do like the sound of this book and series.
This series was my first experience with Darcy Burke as well, and It was not bad at all.
I love the way you describe his actions of respect for her and the way she re-made herself. I haven’t read one of her books in a bit. I’ll have to check out this series.
Thanks!
This author is new to me but I’ll have to check her out because this sounds really good.
I’m glad that you’re enjoying the series and hope that you continue to. Thanks for sharing!
I have read a couple of her books and would love to read more. This sounds great and I love the fact that there is a puppy in the story.
The puppy stole the show. He even had a little side story of his own.
I love HR, but have not tried this author. I will add to my wishlist.
Hope you like her books. It was a nice surprise for me.
