⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. With Atticus and Oberon’s deadpan humour, Hexed was a stupendously fun ride.

Witches are not Atticus’s favourite people. Now there are more of them in town, and they are definitely not playing nice. Before even laying eyes on them, they tried to kill him. He signs a treaty with the local coven and enlists their assistance, along with his vampire attorney, Leif, and some unexpected help from his neighbour. But before he can get to the witches, he has to take down a fallen angel and a horde of Bacchants.

MY THOUGHTS

I am reading this series as part of the read-along hosted by Books Of My Heart.

Atticus’s apparent young age in the first book didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but in this book it definitely came in handy. Again, I loved that Atticus had immense power at his disposal, but it came with limitations that made it more realistic. All the battles had me at the edge of my seat and Atticus had to employ all his skills to survive.

Like the first book, Hounded, I really enjoyed the clever writing and the witty banter between Atticus and Oberon. I especially enjoyed the back and forth between Atticus and Leif in the heat of battle. I can definitely recommend this series if you like urban fantasy with well-rounded, interesting characters and plenty of nail-biting action. It is best to read the books in order, as the events build on each other and the characters and their relationships change and develop.
