⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? For the most part, yes. I love the action and it’s always exciting when the Reapers work together.
BLURB
Ruarc is keeping the wolves at bay after his father had spectacularly ruined their family’s fortunes and reputation. The Others have capitalized on his misfortune and is pressuring him to betray his friend, Rordan, and the other Reapers. Things are looking pretty bleak for Ruarc, until the love of his life, Chevonne, makes an unexpected reappearance. Her presence complicates things, but he is not giving her up again.
MY THOUGHTS
Ruarc’s and Chevonne’s reunion was beautiful until she ruined it by doing the same thing to him as he had done to her. The same thing she was so angry about for centuries. The thing she desperately wanted to confront him with. Well, you get the idea. It’s always so frustrating when people make choices with the idea of protecting the ones they love, but it just ends up hurting everybody.
The fight scenes were awesome, as always. Xaneth made his usual mysterious appearances with Aisling hot on his tail. We made some progress with the Others, but not a lot, and it seems as if the Reapers are in for even more trouble from that corner. And what is up with that uber enigmatic cliff-hanger ending?
As far as the plot goes to find and stop the Others, not much progress has been made in this book. It’s served more to add Ruarc to the Reaper roster and to bring him and Chevonne back together. I did enjoy the two of them as a couple and it was great seeing the Reapers in action as a group.
This is book 14 in the Reaper series and don’t even think about reading it as a stand-alone. You’ll just end up confused. Best to start at the beginning. And pick up the related Dark Kings series while you’re at it.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Genre: Paranormal Romance
I plan to try this series at some point.
Well, I realized recently that I just physically don’t have enough time (even if all I did was read) to get to everything I’d like to. It’s crazy. And sad. Hope you find the time to get to all the ones you still want to read.
I was actually confused on why this book was mostly focused on a human and his relationship versus one of the Reapers. It does bring Ruac in as a Reaper, but I kind of felt like we had a lot of the book that did not contain the Reapers. It felt like kind of a filler book. Well, with the exception of one of the Others going rogue. That part was fun. I do love this series though and I think I’m going to go back and do a reread.
You’re right, the Reapers were a bit more of an aside. And I also think it felt like a filler book, except for the bit about the Others. That was pretty shocking and exciting.
