⭐⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. A nerdy numbers guy and an outgoing cat lover overcome their initial animosity in this sweet, sometimes light, sometimes intense tale of love.

Miles is more of a dog person and with his mother in the hospital, he needs to find a sitter for her cat, pronto. Kitty Hart, the Kitty Whisperer, with her flashy website and huge social media following, seems like the perfect solution. They run into each other, literally, in front of his mother’s house before Kitty gets the chance to meet Prince Francis, a Sphynx cat that is very unhappy to be left to his own devices. Despite a rocky start, they start bonding over Prince Francis, his mom’s needs, and an unexpected online disaster.

MY THOUGHTS

I found both their jobs super interesting and I enjoyed all the references to it. Well, maybe all the cat puns were a bit much, but it was wonderful to see how passionate they both were about their careers. I’m not a huge cat fan, but I can certainly appreciate Kitty’s devotion to them.

The story takes a heavier turn with Mile’s mother’s dementia, the fallout from an incident that Kitty had in the park, and Kitty’s reluctance to move on from her father’s passing. But through all that, their slow-burning romance weaves its own kind of magic. It just kind of snuck up on them, but once it got started, the relationship became a source of support for both of them. I loved that, instead of a big break-up right before the HEA, we saw them struggle together through their issues and be there for each other.

I can recommend this if you like a steamy opposites-attract romance, where the characters go through rough patches, but come out at the end stronger than they went in. See what other readers are saying on Goodreads.
