⭐⭐⭐ Was I hooked by that book? Yes. I loved Jace’s crazy friends and the way they stood by each other, no questions asked.
BLURB
Jace is still trying to find his feet and rebuild his life after Taryn left unexpectedly. He sees her around every corner and hears her voice, until he realizes that it’s not just his imagination, she is really back in town. And there is no way he is letting her get away again, no matter what. Taryn is afraid of getting Jace involved in her dangerous secrets, but she has reached the end of her rope and she really needs his help.
MY THOUGHTS
Jace’s entire group of friends did not hesitate to involve themselves in all the intrigue. It was very exciting to see them work together to help Taryn. They certainly are magnets for trouble.
I was a bit conflicted about Jace and Taryn. They met up again under extremely stressful circumstances for Taryn. Jace was still carrying around a lot of anger about their breakup. And yet, they jumped into intimacy super fast despite all of that. It was like Jace had just conveniently forgotten all about the heartache she had caused. He wasn’t very cautious with his still-broken heart. But the two of them definitely have something special and their closeness saved them in more ways than the obvious.
The action was fast-paced and exciting. And it held a few surprises towards the end.
This is book six in the Heart of Texas series. It’s not necessary to read them in order, but it does help.
