ROMANTIC SUSPENSE

CONTEMPORARY

HISTORICAL

PARANORMAL/URBAN FANTASY

These novels involve supernatural creatures such as vampires, ghosts, werewolves, witches, psychics, etc. Often these creatures live in and interact with the regular human world and the story takes place in modern times. I’m including Urban Fantasy in this list.

  • Ilona Andrews
    • Hidden Legacy Series – In this urban fantasy series, the world is ruled by powerful Houses, with immense magic at their disposal. The Baylor family and their investigative agency is pulled into this world and has to find a way to stay on top of it.
    • Kate Daniels World – Kate Daniels, a tough no-nonsense mercenary, takes care of magical problems, while trying to stay unnoticed. Her plans go awry when she attracts the attention of the Pack’s alpha.
  • L.R. Braden
    • The Magicsmith Series – Alex discovers she is part fae and becomes embroiled in the world of conflict between the fae, vampires, werewolves, humans, and other paranormal creatures.
    • The Rifter Series – Mira Fuentes shares her body a demon. They team up with a human, Ty Williams, and together, they hunt down magical troublemakers that the human world is ill equipped to deal with.
  • Patricia Briggs
    • Mercy Thompson Series – Mercy has the ability to take the form of a coyote at will. She’s surrounded by far more powerful supernatural beings, including werewolves, vampires and an assortment of fae.
  • Angie Fox
  • Donna Grant’s Dark Universe
    • Dark Sword Series – The darkest, fiercest warriors of Scottish legend finally meet their match—in the brave, fiery hearts of the women they cherish.
    • Dark Warriors Series – Centuries ago the druids split into two factions: the mie and the drough. The drough sought to solve the Celts problems by calling up violent gods that once ruled Earth and bind these gods with the strongest warriors from each tribe. The Warriors were born.
    • Dark Kings Series – Called the Dragon Kings a millennium ago, these men of power and magic can shift into dragon form and have ruled over all other creatures. Betrayed by humans, the Kings sent the dragons away to a world where they will be safe. But now a new evil is beginning to awaken and they are reluctantly being pulled into a war not of their choosing.
    • The Reaper Series – They live to do Death’s bidding. Judge, jury, and executioner, the Reapers assassinate who Death wants gone-and are always successful in their quests. But when centuries of walking alone are brought to a crashing halt by the women they want more than anything, they will have to risk everything to keep those they love safe and in their arms.
    • Dragon Kings Series – This is a spinoff from the Dark Kings series. The Dragon Kings discover the realm where their dragons have been sent, but the dragons there are none to eager to welcome them. Ruled by Eurwyn and Brandon, the King of Dragon Kings’ twins, Zora is riddled with its own evildoers.
    • Skye Druids Series – Another spinoff series that focuses on the Druids of Skye and their efforts to identify and eliminate a mysterious foe.
    • Elven Kingdoms Series – Zora is also inhabited by the Elves, divided into different groups with different magical abilities.
  • Ali Hazelwood
    • Bride – A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into.
  • Lucy Score
    • Riley Thorn Series – A nice, normal life. Is that too much to ask? For Riley Thorn it is. Divorced. Broke. Living with a pack of elderly roommates. And those hallucinations she’s diligently ignoring? Her tarot card-dealing mom is convinced they’re clairvoyant visions. This is a hilarious, super fun, steamy series.
  • Nalini Singh
    • The Guild Hunter Series – Angels rule over humans and vampires, but the most powerful of them all are the archangels. This is the story of archangel Raphael and Elena, a guild hunter, and includes stories of the other archangels and vampires in their sphere.
    • Psy-Changeling Series – Humans, changelings, and the emotionless Psy are slowly finding ways to work together and break the Psy’s Silence.

FANTASY/SCI-FI

These novels focus on magic and magical creatures, and often takes place in a fictional world that may be medieval-like. I prefer my fantasy with all the romance.

  • Amanda Bouchet
    • The Kingmaker Chronicles – Griffin plans to save the world and reunite the kingdoms. It will take a lot of convincing to get Cat on his side. Exciting action, interesting characters, plenty of steam.
  • Jennifer Estep
    • Crown of Shards Series – Everleigh takes the crown of Bellona after the royal family is brutally murdered. Now she has to solidify her rule.
    • Gargoyle Queen Series – The saga continues 16 years later with the story of Princess Gemma, who had survived the massacre when she was a child.
    • Section 47 Series – Charlotte Locke, an analyst for a secret government organization, comes into the crosshairs of Desmond Percy, a very lethal cleaner.
    • Galactic Bonds Series – Vesper Quill and Kyrion Caldaren are forced to work together due to an arcane, unwanted quirk of psionic magic.

WOMEN’S fiction

Women’s Fiction for me is any book that focuses mostly on women, their issues, and their relationships. It may or may not contain a romantic relationship, but this relationship is not the main focus of the story. Here is my list of favourite authors and some of my most recent favourite books by them:
