Here are four quickie reviews of books I’ve read recently.
Carla and Eamon share a wild weekend in Ireland and he wants more, but can she stand still for long enough to give him a chance?
⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was just such a pleasure reading this author’s books. I enjoyed the first two books in this series and this one was no different. The beginning did throw me for a loop. I was definitely on board with the instant attraction and everything, but I did not expect the story to unfold the way it did and I’m glad, because it was the best surprise. Carla and Eamon firmly crept into my heart and stayed there until the end.

The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella
Sasha retreats to Rilston to pull herself together after suffering a breakdown at work. The last person she wanted to run into was Finn, the rude man she met on the train. Soon, they find themselves sharing more than just the beach and childhood memories.
⭐⭐⭐ I liked this book just fine. Parts of it were very ridiculous and parts were quite endearing. I enjoyed the banter between Sasha and Finn and the development of their relationship, but I wasn’t that invested in them as a couple. The best parts of the book were piecing together the details of an incident from years ago as they remembered and discussed their own involvements in the event.

A Curse for Spring by Amanda Bouchet
A kingdom abandoned by a season. A drought strangling the land. A prince determined to save his people. Daric’s plea for help leaves the goddess Spring in human form with a new name, Rain. When circumstances turn even more dire, a race against time and devastating obligations begins for Rain and Daric – and love is a powerful incentive.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was such a delightful read. A lot of emotion was packed into this short, but intense story. The ardent passion between Rain and Daric was always there and tempered somewhat by the sadness of Rain’s situation and the drought that was plaguing the land. It was a quick read that I just couldn’t put down. The fantasy world was explained more than adequately for a novella, though there were some parts that I had questions about.

Beginner’s Luck by Kate Clayborn
Ben finds more than he bargained for when he tries to recruit Kit for his company. What begins as a chilly rebuff soon heats up into an attraction neither Kit nor Ben can deny, and finding themselves lucky in love might just be priceless.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ There was a lot to like about this book. Kit was a complex character. She was confident about some things like her job and her friends, but she was also plagued by some things that were holding her back like her dislike for change and her feelings about her father and brother. I liked Ben a lot and that he chose to put Kit first. The third-act misunderstanding was so frustrating, but they patched things up in a charming and satisfactory way. The chemistry between Kit and Ben was quite electric and I liked seeing their relationship develop.

Off the Map was a wonderful example of instant romance done right! I loved it as much as the first book, Float Plan. I liked the middle book, too, just not quite as much.

I really need to read Trish Doller! I’ve kind of fallen off of Sophie Kinsella books a few years ago. But always consider trying again. Thanks for sharing these!
Sophie Kinsella tends to be a bit hit and miss for me. But I’ll keep reading her books.
