Quickie Reviews are what it says, a short one paragraph review for those books that didn’t get a full page review.

The Halifax Hellions by Alexandra Vasti on Hooked By That Book

The Halifax Hellions by Alexandra Vasti

For the first time ever in print, The Halifax Hellions brings together Margo and Matilda’s novellas, along with a swoony new epilogue.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was very much “the sexual awakening of the Halifax Hellions”. The scandalous twins had a last item to cross off their lists – falling in love and loving with abandon. As much as I enjoyed the two haphazardly fun romances, I was more interested in seeing the two sisters reunite and reconcile. Because at the end of Margot’s story I was mildly annoyed with Matilda and I needed them to mend their relationship. Margot and Matilda nurtured their well-earned reputation for their own reasons and I loved their devil-may-care approach to life. Margot and Henry had a sweet, impulsive romance, giving in after years of pining. Compared to them, Matilda and Christian had a more calculated romance, giving them both the structure and love they clearly craved. Both stories were quick, fun, and very sexy.

Upon Buried Embers by Kelly Cove on Hooked By That Book

Upon Buried Embers by Kelly Cove

I made a deal with him, only he made a deal with someone else. He says he has a use for me, but I would rather be burned alive than be taken by him and their cruel ways. Now I just need to escape. Only, he offers me something I haven’t been given before… a choice. Take the deal or die.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stumbled onto this book by accident, and boy, am I glad I did. This book had everything: an underdog FMC, a grumpy and reluctantly supportive MMC, thrilling action, political intrigue, and most importantly of all, dragons. The world building was done well, though I do have some lingering questions. It ended on a huge cliffhanger and I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Maid For Each Other by Lynn Painter on Hooked By That Book

Maid For Each Other by Lynn Painter

A millionaire and a house cleaner are a match maid in heaven in this sparkling romantic comedy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was very reminiscent of Pretty Woman, but the similarities didn’t hit me until Abi got a sleazy proposition from Declan’s friend. Some of the situations they found themselves in seemed pretty far-fetched and I kept wondering how Declan was going to explain Abi’s sudden absence to his family and friends once their arrangement had run its course. But, read this book for the excellent banter and chemistry between Abi and Declan alone. It provided endless hours of escapist fun.

Magic Reborn by Jeffe Kennedy on Hooked By That Book

Magic Reborn by Jeffe Kennedy

The gripping conclusion to the saga that started with a desperate woman in a tower and the Dark Wizard who freed her…

⭐⭐⭐ I am enjoying this world of wizards and familiars and the quest of the Phel family to regain their magical status. This particular book was a bit slow and I feel like these three books focusing on Alise and Cillian could have been condensed somewhat. It is definitely best to read these books in order. The Bonds of Magic series starts it all and if you want all the background and world-building, then it’s best to begin there.
