Quickie Reviews are what it says, a short one paragraph review for those books that didn’t get a full page review.

Bad Luck Bride by Laura Lee Guhrke
In this dazzling Victorian romance, one unlucky lady believes her fate is finally changing until the rake that broke her heart returns to town.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kay and Devlin had very different perspectives on what had happened years ago between them. Their animosity was a very flimsy barrier barely hiding the attraction that still ran strong between them. All that pain and anguish they both suffered were just unbearably heart breaking. Things fell apart quite spectacularly, but I have to admit, the best parts were the pointed arguing between Kay and Devlin. It conveyed so much passion and feeling. I loved how Devlin kept trying to take care of Kay, and not have his heart broken (again) in the process. The last part of the book was fun and charming, with a very satisfactory ending. I can highly recommend this if you like a steamy second chance historical romance.

Blind Date With a Werewolf by Patricia Briggs
When the deadly werewolf Asil is gifted five blind dates by some anonymous “friends”, his reclusive life will never be the same.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I listened to this one and it took me a bit to get used to the narrator, but I did and I enjoyed this set of 5 dates immensely. Every single one had elements of danger, some violence, some flirting, and funny moments. Asil and his wolf had a dry wit that made me smile multiple times. We learned so much about his past and who he is now. I loved the ending and I now wish there could be more stories with Asil. It would be worth reading the other books in this world first, as the stories in this book don’t do world-building, they expand on an existing base.

Love at First Sighting by Mallory Marlowe
A chance at love might not be out of this world…
⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed the writing style and the humor in this book. Carter and El were both fun and interesting characters and Carter was just so adorable. But the plot left me less than enthused. I had a lot of questions about the objectives of PIS and their methods, and the motivations of the people surrounding the events towards the end.

Nora Roberts Land by Ava Miles
Tanner arrives in Dare Valley with less than noble intentions. Meredith is badly in need of a fresh start. These two investigative journalists soon find themselves embroiled in more drama than that of their own making.
⭐⭐⭐ This was cute and overall really enjoyable. I loved the Nora Roberts references (even though I have not read all the books mentioned by the characters). The writing was fun and light hearted for the most part. I did not expect the tragedy that occurred and served as the main driver to finish the investigation that Meredith’s grandfather had started. The three of them working together with their journalistic skills were interesting and exciting. Meredith’s ex was truly oozy and gross. On the downside, the plot had some issues for me that wasn’t really resolved as time went on.
Spoiler
It was revealed very early on that Meredith’s ex was blackmailing Tanner into railroading Meredith’s planned article. I feel like that part could’ve been uncovered later on and then it might have had more of an impact. Instead, we all knew what was going on right from the start and it spoiled the romance between Tanner and Meredith somewhat. I couldn’t really sink into the relationship knowing what was coming.

Hope you enjoyed these quickie reviews. Have you read any of these books yet?

I loved Blind Date with a Werewolf and I read Nora Roberts Land quite a number of years ago.
Mallory Marlowe’s last book was underwhelming for me so I didn’t download this one. Looks like it was a good decision. I was confused by the Nora Roberts on the cover. I thought maybe she was writing under another pen name and then got it.
Love at First Sighting is on my TBR, but I will not rush to it based on some of the reviews I’ve seen. Great reviews!
