Welcome to another Monday Musings. How are you all doing? We are having a truly warm week here, very unusual for the end of September. I’m enjoying the blue-blue sky and the leaves that are slowly turning yellow here and there. Fall is most definitely my favourite season.
My oldest turned 18 a little more than a week ago. How is it possible that my baby is 18? We went with her and a handful of friends to a cat café, which was an interesting experience. It was a low-key day, but she had fun, and that is all that matters.
This past weekend I had the wonderful privilege of attending a ladies’ tea. I live in Canada now, but I’m originally from South Africa, and this event was attended by 130 fellow South African women. We reconnected and made new connections over coffee, tea, cake, and other delectable treats, while listening to some speakers and having fun.
And I am actually excited for October to get here. It’s Thanksgiving for us on the 10th, I’m already planning a dinner with friends, and then Halloween. My kids are too big for trick-or-treating these days, but I still love handing out candy to all the cute little superheroes, royalty, and critters and creatures that grace my doorstep.
I have a question for my fellow romance readers today. The level or amount of sex and displays of affection in a book, what do you call it? I’ve seen so many different ways of referring to it, and I’m struggling to settle on something myself. I know for some review platforms, such as Amazon, you have to steer clear of explicit words. I’ve seen some bloggers and reviewers use flames emojis to rate the levels of sensuality, and I’m contemplating copying that to add to my reviews. But I’d also like to come up with a sensible and understandable way of describing it. Help???
And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
I’m still a bit slow on posting reviews, but have been reading quite a lot.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
I look forward to my reading list this week and some extra ones will probably be added to the list as the week goes on.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.
And that’s it. Thanks for musing with me on this beautiful Monday.
Your tea sounds wonderful, it’s so nice to get to gather with friends again. For romance books, I call it the amount of spice or spiciness in a book. Or a heat level?
I think I’ve used spiciness before, mostly I use steaminess. It all sounds so inadequate somehow.
Your tea sounds lovely! I’m enjoying our cooler temperatures. Fall is my favorite also. I use flames and I describe their meaning on my blog on my review policies https://booksofmyheart.net/review-policies/
Thanks. I’ll take a look. I like your rating system. I’ve also looked at the one on All About Romance. I might steal something from everyone. Thanks!
I am NOT ready for my baby to turn 18. I have a few more years, but man it goes fast! I hope you enjoy your reads this week.
Thanks!
My first baby is turning 36 on Monday! 36!!!!!! How is that even possible when I still feel like I’m 35???😥😥So the cat cafe…..is it a place where cats have a run of the place? Have a wonderful weekend!!🍁💜
Wow. Happy birthday to your kid! The cat café – they have the café area where you come in and then a separate room for interacting with the cats. You can take your drink in there, but not food. It’s a fairly big room and the cats roam around and you sit and pet them, if they let you. 🙂 The kids had a blast.
