Welcome to my Monday Musings. I skipped last week’s musings. Things have been a bit busy for me. I’m still volunteering at the food bank twice a week and my freelance work has suddenly picked up quite a lot. That was unexpected. I had a lot of back and forth with my sister about organizing my dad’s birthday party, which he absolutely loved, thank goodness. Some other appointments and errands, and much-needed visits with friends made up the rest of the time.
We had a boatload of snow over the weekend and just huddled inside for the most part. My Christmas tree and decorations are up and I’m loving it. This week is super cold. Today was -14ºC or 7ºF. Tomorrow looks to be the warmest of this entire week and we’re expecting another heap of snow this coming weekend.
I watched Happiness for Beginners on Netflix. Didn’t know it was a book and I quite liked it. It was so sweet and Jake was so obviously in love.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (Mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
I posted two new reviews and the latest quickie reviews are here. I also did some reading of Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental World series.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on. I have finished reading The Mirror, my review is coming soon.
QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
From Blonde Date by Sarina Bowen: Katie wiggled out of a pair of stockings, revealing the smallest lace panties ever manufactured. Seriously, the physics lab up on Science Hill could attempt to split them like an atom in the particle accelerator. I think I stopped breathing. My brain took a sabbatical to Tahiti.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.
And that’s it. Thanks for joining me on this Monday Musings adventure.
Brrr Snow. We are getting colder weather starting Friday. I hope it’s pretty and you can stay inside and warm. Unless you enjoy skiing, sledding, skating and ice fishing as I did in Minnesota. lol
We’re a bit busy with school and other stuff to go enjoy the snow properly. And way too cold. I’ll wait for it to warm a little bit first. At least the sun is out.
It sounds like a busy week Rolé. I know they got a lot of snow out west. We are lucky here in Southern Ontario, no snow yet. I read The Mirror and just posted my review. I liked it. I am listening to A Legend in the Baking right now. I like it, but a few steamy scenes. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Hope you have a good week too. I liked A Legend in the Baking.
Sorry I’m late commenting. We got snow yesterday! Our first of the season. I need to check out what you think of A Legend in the Baking. I also want to watch Happiness for Beginners but it will go on my list for next time I subscribe to Netflix. Have a good week!

Thanks, you too!
Wow, that is cold! Our highs will be in the mid 60s this week, but last week it was in the 40s and the lows were in the 20s. We haven’t had any snow in the forecast yet, just a bunch of rain. Hope you stay warm! At least the cold days are perfect for cozying up by the fire and reading!
This week looks to be a lot warmer.
