Welcome to another Monday Musings. How are you all doing? Looks like I skipped over the first week of November. Well, better late than never.
We survived the time change, I am obviously not a huge fan. Not at all. Though this one is the better one, if I had to choose. We slogged through a heavy snow fall and some strep throat made its rounds, but so far November has treated me fairly well.
I have been struggling with my gray hair situation. Up until now, I’ve religiously coloured the roots, but it’s getting tedious and frustrating. So, this past Friday, I did a huge thing. My hairdresser spent a lot of time giving me lighter highlights. We will continue to lighten them until they match better with the grays and in the meantime I can let the roots be. I’m quite happy with the results, but it will take some getting used to.
My son’s high school is currently in their last week of rehearsals for Mamma Mia. He has been having a blast with it and he’s already sad that it’s almost over. I’m looking forward to seeing the performance next week.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
Not all of these have reviews on here. Sometimes I just want to read for the fun of it.

FOR THIS COMING WEEK

Alex's new position with the PTF is precarious, and she has to investigate a possible attack by the fae off the books. Can she keep the peace?
Olive and Adam are fake dating to convince Olive's friend that she's in a relationship. But science conference shenanigans can bring it all crashing down. And Olive's career might be in jeopardy too.
Anderson and Chelsea were high school sweethearts. After life has dealt both some blows, they reconnect through a shared project. Can they rekindle what they once had?
INTERESTING QUOTES
Here are some quotes from books I’ve read recently that caught my eye.
Today I only have one. Guess I forgot to collect some quotes during all my reading time.
From Patience for Christmas by Grace Burrows: “‘Some women are born troubled.’ Sharing that eternal verity with Miss Friendly earned Dougal the same look George gave him when the cat had been put out first thing on a snowy day.”
Do you have any fun quotes to share?
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.
And that’s it. Thanks for musing with me on this beautiful Monday.
My sister just did the lighter highlights to move to grey a couple weeks ago. So far so good! I hope the transition works well for you.
Thanks. I hope so too.
I have never colored my hair. I know myself and I just wouldn’t want to keep up with it. I feel like I have earned every grey hair that I have anyway 🙂 I am not a fan of the time change but it is much easier to adjust to gaining an hour of sleep. Have a great week!
You’re absolutely right about earning all the gray hairs. 😁 Hope you have a great week too.
Your hair looks great! I’ve never colored my hair and I have bits of gray. You’ve been reading some books I enjoyed.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks!
I like your strategy for going back to your own hair color. I’m so glad we don’t change our clocks here. I don’t miss it one bit.
Thanks. Now I just have to stick to my strategy.
I have the same struggle with my hair and because it’s getting so expensive to go in every few weeks for root touch-ups, I actually just had a conversation with my hairdresser about going a bit lighter with my highlight to better camouflage the grays with less maintenance.
Yep, our plan is to gradually keep making the highlights lighter. In the meantime, I can let the roots go. No more colouring every 5 weeks or so.
I hope to read The Love Hypothesis some time soon as well! Have a wonderful weekend.
I’m about halfway through now and totally loving it.
I have Built to Last and Vanishing Point on my TBR. I am presently listening to So This is Christmas by Jenny Holiday.
I loved Love Hypothesis. I hope you enjoy it too
Just finished it today and I absolutely loved it.
Oh I get the dreaded gray root issue! Mamma Mia is such a fun production – it must be great to participate in it. I enjoyed The American Roommate Experiment and hope that you do too Rolé!
Yes, I really liked the American Roommate Experiment. It was very emotional for me.
Your hair has such good silky shine and I like this phase. Fun that your son is doing Mamma Mia.
I really enjoyed the latest Ali Hazelwood. You’ve got a nice stack picked out for this week.
Thanks!
I feel you on the roots, just not sure I am ready to go to grey (I am just 50). My natural hair color (originally) is dark brown too. It could be a shock to go grey. Your hair does look great, and I am curious to see how it works out.
It’s a bit of an experiment. I’m not quite 50 yet, almost. It’s also been a bit of an adjustment, but so far so good.
Love your blog! I feel like I was in a bit of a romance reading slump until my most recent find – “Awake” (Book #1 of the Midlife Romance Series) by Lisa Battalia. It begins with the main character, Lori, struggling in the aftermath of her husband’s desertion. Lori is closed off and unwilling to let anyone else into her life, until she reconnects with her old “friend” (it’s complicated – lol) Brandon. Brandon ignites a passion in Lori that she didn’t know was there, and she begins to discover her own sexual power. The novel follows their erotic and emotional journey as they explore their new relationship. It was a super steamy, fun and empowering read with a realistic storyline.
Here is the author’s website if you want to read more about it! – https://www.lisabattalia.com/
Happy Holidays and Happy Reading!
Thanks! That sounds interesting, I’ll go take a look. Happy Holidays to you too.
Hi Rolé, I’m really looking forward to following your Monday musings — this Monday, in fact, I find myself going to get a “cut and color” LOL – haven’t let go of that yet, maybe I’’l discuss with my stylist today LOL. As the author of Awake and Second Chances (the 2 books of A Midlife romance series) I would love to know if you checked out the books and what you think. An honest and constructive review would most certainly be appreciated. Have a wonderful Holiday season and I look forward to being part of your community!
Hi, and welcome. The books sound interesting, but I really can’t make any promises as to when I can get around to reading them. My reading list is really out of control at the moment. It’s a nice problem to have, but also a bit frustrating.
