Welcome to my Monday Musings. Today, on Remembrance Day, I am grateful for the service and sacrifice of our past and current armed forces everywhere in the world.
It’s been a month since my last Monday Musings. October just flew by and November is well on its way. We had a fun Halloween and I always enjoy the variety of costumes that make their way to my door. About a month ago I started volunteering at our Food Bank and it has been a wonderful experience. It’s a great organization to do volunteering for and I’ve enjoyed it so far, even if the reason for the Food Bank is heartbreaking.
Our fall is surprisingly balmy. We’ve had some snow, but it melted pretty quickly. It’d be interesting to see how this winter unfolds.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (Mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
I posted one new review this past week and the new quickie reviews are here. I have one more late ARC review to do and then I will be caught up.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on.
QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
From A Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire by Sarah Hawley: The man was gaping at her. Somewhat like a fish, or perhaps a Star Trek redshirt about to meet his demise.
From A Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire by Sarah Hawley: She licked one throbbing fang. Perhaps it had been a bit hasty to threaten his liver. It was her vampire father’s legacy – during times of stress, it was fangs first, critical thinking later.
From Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer: There was no emotion in his voice when he said, “Does your mind live in the gutter?” She shook her head, tapping a finger against her lips. “No, but it rents there on occasion.”
From The Striker by Ana Huang: Was it normal for a human heart to beat this fast? I had my annual checkup a few weeks ago. The doctor said everything looked normal, but maybe I needed a second opinion because something strange was going on inside my chest.
From The Striker by Ana Huang: Ivy pushed her glass towards me. She might’ve hated wine at uni, but perhaps she had developed a new appreciation for it because she gulped it down like a desperate woman who’d finally stumbled upon an oasis in the dessert.
From The Beast Takes a Bride by Julie Anne Long: The departure of cherished guests was always bittersweet. Much like Planet Earth itself, arrivals and departures were what defined life at The Grand Palace on the Thames. No one left unchanged by their experience. A gratifying number of their guests seemed to leave with a spouse.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
You can find more recommendations here. Is there anything you’d like to recommend? I’m always open to new authors and new books.
What are you reading? Let me know in the comments below.
And that’s it. Thanks for joining me on this Monday Musings adventure.
I love the Will Trent books. I hope you enjoy Shine.
I did like Shine, finished it last night. Now I have to collect my thoughts for my review.
I’ve never read the Will Trent books, but I really enjoy the show on TV. I hope you have a good week.
I don’t know how I feel about the TV show. I love the actor that plays Will and I enjoy Amanda and Faith and Betty. But Angie being nice is weird and I keep waiting for Sara to show up.
