Welcome to another Monday Musings. COVID properly kicked my butt last week. Today is a lot better, except for a lingering cough. It’s lovely to have a bit more energy again. Needless to say, not a lot happened last week. Hubs is back to work, very reluctantly, and the kids are amusing themselves. It was a quiet weekend as well. We are dog sitting for our neighbours for a few days. Very cute little guy. And it’s slowly time to start back-to-school planning.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
Still working hard to catch up with reviews. It’s getting there.
⭐⭐⭐ Jada's public image took a knock and she needs a reset. Donovan's new bakery needs something different to make it stand out. Can a fake relationship restore the public's faith in them? Only one way to find out.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fae king Micah is ruthless and has no time for Viori, who happens upon his camp. She possesses a terrifying power, but that is no match for the power of the attraction between them. But will the coming war with her brother tear them apart?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Romantic suspense at it's finest. PI Molly helps chef Gabe investigate his father's death. It leads them down a rabbit hole of deceit and cover-ups.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ A surprisingly lovely combination of time travel and ghosts. From a very young age Bronwyn slipped through a crack in time to visit William. After a tragedy and a break of 20 years, they meet again. But a ghost seems determined to keep them apart.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ More ghosts and time travel. This time it's Rosalind who finds herself unexpectedly in the 21st century and has to make her way back to her husband and son. But it's been 4 years. Will August want her back? And who is the ghost trying to hurt her family?
⭐⭐⭐ A gripping story, but the characters are too similar to the previous books in the series. Isabel and Michael got off on the wrong foot, but a few years later, and they can't deny the attraction any longer. Lots of drama and intrigue.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cailin is just not fitting into Society, but she can't help but be fascinated by Courtland, the Duke of Balfour. Her family just wants her to be happy, but Cailin has to figure out what that looks like.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
I look forward to my reading list this week and some extra ones will probably be added to the list as the week goes on.
Dougal is a spy and his latest assignment has him partnered with the inexperienced but brilliant code-breaker, Jess. Soon their pretend marriage starts to feel all too real.
Graham Wynchester is convinced he is destined to meet and save a royal. But Kuni is not royalty and she doesn't want or need his help. Despite vastly different lives and dreams, they work together perfectly. Can they find a way to stay together?
Vampire Wulfe is missing, and Adam and Mercy are under pressure to find him. But the threat is bigger than any of them anticipated.
