Welcome to my Monday Musings. Wow, the thing about missing last week’s weekly update is that we’re halfway into August already and it went by so fast. I was inundated last week with work and there just wasn’t time to do the Monday update. It wasn’t just all work, luckily. We had friends over for dinner, I had a wonderful morning visit with some girlfriends, it was my youngest’s 16th birthday, and I’m using this week to catch up with some household chores.
And now on to the reading part of the post. (To find out more about the books: For mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. For PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)
DONE AND DUSTED
I read some super fun books and I posted three reviews these past two weeks.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Anne springs Will from prison to help her league steal gold back for the Highlanders. They find that their youthful love still burns as strong as ever after years apart.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nate and Izzy meet during a horrific plane crash and form an instant connection. A moment fraught with misunderstanding drives them apart until they meet again in Afghanistan where Nate was Izzy's security.
⭐⭐⭐ Paranormal meets historical romance in this story of seduction, intrigue and desire.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The head of a criminal empire, Boyd, has finally found his kids after 5 years. But a lot of people are willing to die to keep them out of his clutches.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sparks fly when Scout is forced to ask her estranged husband for a favor - she needs Lane's beloved dog to be a stand-in in a photoshoot.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Anna decides to follow the trip plan set out by her late fiancé, but she realizes that she will need help. Keane is also struggling to figure out his new life. Soon Anna begins to chart her own course.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yakov has been dreaming for years about his mate and she far exceeds his expectations, but Theo will require a lot of patience before he can bring her into his bear family's fold.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Winslow still has to prove herself as the new chief of police, and investigating an apparent suicide as murder isn't helping her cause. She also has to figure out what to do with the hunky Griffin.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charlotte goes to view a property way out of her price range to meet the man who wrote a beautiful love note that she found sewn into a second-hand wedding dress. Reed was not what she expected, especially not when she started working as his assistant.
⭐⭐⭐ Georgie returns to her home town and rediscovers her teenage diary. She decides to use it as a springboard to liven up her life, with the help of grouchy Levi.
FOR THIS COMING WEEK
Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on.
Donna Grant takes us back in time to when Lennox, the King of Dragon Kings, meets Ailis, a Fae with a thirst for adventure, and shifts to human for the first time.
Clementine meets a strange man in her apartment, but he lives 7 years in the past.
Atticus is yet again in a race against time. He has to bind Granuaile to the earth, so she can become a Druid, before Bacchus catches up with them.
QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
From Float Plan by Trish Doller: I left a girl-shaped skin on that midnight beach and as I wipe the fog from the mirror, I see the next Anna revealed.
From In the Likely Event by Rebecca Yarros: All the Kevlar in the world couldn’t protect my heart from its own foolish longing to hurl itself at Nate.
