Welcome to my Monday Musings. I enjoyed watching the Olympics. Mostly I just watched the highlights that our local news station broadcast all day long, but that was more than good enough for me. I think I caught all the good ones.

It was a pleasant week. Nothing too exciting. The extreme heat has left us behind and the smoke from the forest fires had also moved somewhere else for the time being. We celebrated my youngest birthday with a family dinner out, which was fabulous. I love that we can spend quality time like that and I enjoy my children so much in these older versions of themselves. I feel very blessed that they are still at home and that we have solid relationships.

I also organized an impromptu birthday party for a friend and our group of friends went above and beyond to make it a very special afternoon.

My whole family watched My Lady Jane with me and we enjoyed it so much. I can’t believe it’s over now. Hopefully there will be more.

And now on to the reading part of the post. (Mobile users – tap on the image of the book cover. PC users – just hover the mouse over the cover.)

DONE AND DUSTED

I added two new reviews and the latest quickie reviews are here. Some of these I finished before last week, but only got around to rating and reviewing them recently.

FOR THIS COMING WEEK

Some more will inevitably be added as the week goes on.

QUOTES THAT CAUGHT MY EYE

From Hot Earl Summer by Erica Ridley: “…There is always someone for everyone. The trick is to go out there and find them. You can’t hibernate forever. Winter has to end sometime. Seize the summer. Find the pack who likes you exactly as you are.”

From Hot Earl Summer by Erica Ridley: “…I don’t like people. And yet you slipped in through the tiniest crack, sand filling my empty hourglass, until I was so full of contentment and peace, that I felt I did not deserve this much joy.”

From The Other Side of Disappearing by Kate Clayborn: Then she sets a hand on Tegan’s shoulder and leads her away, and it’s only Jess and me. Two points in our compass gone, but it doesn’t matter. I’m still staring straight at my true north.

From Funny Story by Emily Henry: “My last name is Vincent,” I tell her. “See?” she says. “A whole syllable I knew nothing about. You’re full of surprises.”
